You can go to this web site to get free CMEs. www.freecme.com
Cheap CME with great quality: www.starofsa.com They offer all direct CE. Most importantly I will be doing lectures all year 2009.
Recent Updates!
The RPAs are now using the RA designation as well as the RPA. The CBRPA has awarded this to the RPAs, because the RPA scope and testing already incorporates what is being asked of the ARRT tested RAs.
So, the long awaited answer to the question..."What's the difference between the RA and the RPA?", is finally here. We will have to see how things progress, when the other involved parties hear about this.
The RPAs will now display "RPA, C-RA(CBRPA)" after their names.

RADIOGRAPHY STUDENTS ACE CRANIAL CT TRAINING
U.K. radiographers scored nearly perfect scores on clinical assessments after receiving training in cranial CT reporting. Departmental politics sometimes hinders radiographers from assuming a greater role in CT reporting, according to a study presented at the 2004 RSNA meeting. (March 24)
"After analyzing 4800 reports from the portfolios, the investigators reported that the radiographers had an accuracy rate of 97.2% compared with the mentor radiologists. Fewer than 1% of the disagreements would have changed patient treatment. Most changes to radiographer reports involved recommendations for follow-up scans such as MR or CT with contrast."
SIR from New Orleans
I will be attending SIR in New Orleans from 3/31-4/05/2005.
Many RPAs will be at the clinical associate meeting to represent the RPA profession along with the PAs and NPs who will be there representing their own.
Well, returned from SIR and pictures are available on the site.
The Clinical Associate meeting was enlightening and we the RPAs have much support. You can read the ful article on www.radiologypa.org
The future of RPA/RA
The RPAs have been egar to get more recognition for their role in bringing about the change in radiology which will hopefully last forever. Who gets the real credit will be decided by the generations to come. There is a possibility that the RPA will turn into the RA, but more likely is that the RPA will be considered higher than the RA. Already the sope of practice is much broader and the radiologists are used to calling us RPAs.
We will have to see as the political actions of the ACR and ASRT, along with the ARRT unfolding by the end of 2005.
We have the first class of RA gradutes from Loma Linda, but no certification test is yet available, except for the CBRPA. Unfortunetly, some of the graduates may not qualify, because the CBRPA requires 5 years prior RT experience to RPA program. Loma Linda's requirement is less than this. We are still working with the RAs, because we are all in this together.
This will be a crucial year for the future of the radiologist extenders, also as far as the CMS is concerned. We could finally get what we need to be able to secure employment without raising eyebrows.
